The overnight camp experience was very impressive and precious to me. I was in group three and we had arrived at the Tiu keng leng Jing Kwok Secondary School. On that day, we did not recognize each other well. According to what we had learnt before, our group should be at the forming and storming stage. We played different warm-up games and communication games so as to build up our team spirit. After playing each game, the teachers debriefed us on the purpose of the game. I also observed some of the characteristics of the game. During the debriefing section, I noticed some of the debriefing skills of the teachers and the tutors. I remembered that the tutor asked us questions like: How do you feel? How did we accomplish the task? After we had answered these questions, the tutor asked us some more questions like: Do you have any findings? How is it possible to apply what you learned in the future? Now, I understand that these questions originate from the Roger Greenway ‘4Fâ€℠¢ Model and the ‘4F’ are: fact, feeling, finding and future(The Hong Kong Education Bureau). I will consider this model quite effective during debriefing because it gradually leads the thoughts of the participants from objective part to subjective part. The answers for fact and feeling typed questions are in fact the foundation for more advance finding and future typed questions. The teachings of the Roman Catholic Church teach that Satan is a real power, likewise Evangelicals teach the same thing. He goes to God and says Job only believes in God because is life is made really easy by God and he thinks that if things began to go wrong for Job (the devils doing) the devil could get Job to curse God to his face: curse you to your face. In reply God tells the devil that he can do whatever he likes but hecannot kill Job. In the end Job carrys on believing in God and does not say what Satan predicted. In this passage the devil is described as a presence proof that he really existed, he causes suffering on propose. He is expressed as being evil and powerful and has control over what happens to people and how he can meddle and cause mayhem and trouble, tempting people away from God. He is also shown as tempting Jesus himself, again in this passage he is shown as a physical presence. In several other places in the bible Satan is shown in other forms such as a Dragon or a snake that the very beginning when the original sin happened.Those who still believe that the devil is an actual power assume that the devil rules a host of his fallen angels his demons. They spend their days causing physical and mental afflictions. Jesus often cured such people in exorcism and some religions still believe in it and attempt to cure it likewise. It is a way of explaining why we sin that it is just in human nature to do wrong after all no all are perfect. If God is all that than we wouldnt let such an evil creature be created or even exist, hence forth the devil cannot be a real being. The question that comes up from this agreement is why is their suffering in the world then. no one knowns the certain answer to that however there are reasonable proposed answers: maybe God has a loving purpose to out suffering. Or otherwise for all the sins we cause and hurt we cause to one another maybe god chooses to be powerless. Third possibility maybe God knows so much he can see the whole picture. Lastly: maybe its our view of God thats wrong? Arguing against this comes the passage: Lucifer was created perfect in all his ways, but iniquity was found in him. It was not put there by God. Lucifer created it. (This is found in Ezekiel 28:15) Like man, the angels were created perfect, and with a free will.To conclude this essay I make the judgement that Lucifer does not exist in a physical form. I see the bible as a set of guidelines rather than text that recollects what has actually happened. In this respect I think that the bible was written to help people understand and teach people things that now we can understand more clearly through science; if you told someone straight on some of the facts andscience we known today to a person from Jesus time they would not understand; through stories however you get the ideas and teachings and information across more simply. For example the original brothers Grime stories have been written more simply for younger eyes to understand, and the big proper ones are left until they grow up. Over all my belief is that although I may refer to things as being the devils doing in truth I do not believe that he is a real being just an expression to help teach and understand evil and wrong doings and actions like deceit, intentional suffering, tempting.

Gender Bias in Literature   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  I have thought about many different ways to organize this paper and have come to the conclusion that the best way to approach the topic is on a book-by-book basis. My perceptions of the gender biases in these books vary greatly and I did not want to begin altering my views on each so that they would fit into certain contrived connections. What interests me most in these stories is how the authors utilize certain character’s within their given environment. Their instincts and reactions are a wonderful window into how the authors perceive these â€Å"people† would interact with their surroundings and often are either rewarded or punished by the author through consequences in the plot for their responses. Through this means we can see how the authors expect their characters to behave in relation to their post in the world. We must be very careful as readers to judge these biases based only on evidence within the text and not invent them from our own psy che due to the individual world we know.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In Louis Sachar’s award winning book Holes, we see gender biases in many characters. The first and most obvious bias in this book can be found in the way Sachar’s characters address Mr. Pendanski, one of the staff members at Camp Green Lake. Many of the boys refer to him sarcastically as â€Å"mom†, and it is not because of his loving nature. Mr. Pendanski is neurotic about things the boys consider trivial and he has a tendency to nag them. Because Mr. Pendanski is portrayed as the antithesis of Mr. Sir, who simply drips testosterone, others view him as a female for his weakness. The fact that Sachar allows his characters to equate weakness with femininity, or more accurately motherhood, shows a certain bias towards the supposed strength that innately accompanies masculinity. This attitude is only furthered by the fact that the rest of the book as almost totally devoid of female characters other than the witch-like caricature presented to us i n the form of the warden. A trial balance is created by companies at the end of an accounting period. It contains a list of all accounts within an accounting system that have balances. Companies separate the accounts into different categories, which include assets, liabilities, equities, revenues and expenses. The accounts are listed in order, beginning with assets, and each includes a balance that is either a debit or credit. Asset and expense accounts have debit balances, while the other types have credit balances. Adjusting entries are made to certain accounts to bring their balances up to date. After adjusting entries are made, the trial balance is updated to an adjusted trial balance. Instructions 1 Create a trial balance. Using the company’s general ledger, transfer all accounts and balances onto a 10-column worksheet. Each account name is listed first, followed by the balance in each. The first two columns of the worksheet are designated for the trial balance. The amounts are separated by debits and credits. Total each column verifying that the amounts are equal. 2 Determine what adjusting entries are needed. Adjusting entries typically are used for two different types of activities: accrual and deferrals. Accruals are entries used to record a revenue or expense that has occurred but has not been posted yet. Deferrals refer to entries that have been made previously, but the amount of the entry must be divided between two or more periods. 3 Adjust for accrual of expenses. Several common adjusting entries occur due to the accrual of expenses. According to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), all expenses and revenues are to be recorded in the period in which they occur. The professor’s pedagogical approach? Pass out mimeographed copies of his manuscript for a grammar textbook do you care to carbon-date the year I took this class? and spend most of each session plodding through a few pages, asking students to identify the part of speech of each word not in occasional exercises, because there weren’t any, but in the instructional text itself. This was a monumentally boring exercise for me (I never polled classmates about their opinion), and the rote teaching strategy was somewhat surprising, too, because the instructor was an engaging fellow who was also a leading actor with a prominent regional theater company. On reflection, though, it might seem the ideal approach to someone accustomed to painstakingly memorizing lines in preparation for essaying a role. (For me, who later spent considerable time doing the same, it had a perverse logic to it.) It didn’t work for me, though. I passed the class, but with only a tenuous grasp of grammar, and years later, well along in my editorial career, I was still shaky on the difference between adjectives and adverbs.
